At The Lighter Side, getting to bring together families for remarkable and pivotal celebrations is one of our favorite things. That’s why it was an honor and privilege to be able to provide lighting for Caleb‘s Bat Mitzvah. In a stunning celebration at a private Beverly Hills residence, we produced an incredible event and lively at the night sky right in their own backyard. From inside the home, to lively dance floor, we changed the atmosphere through lighting!
Whether you were at the buffet or were busting a move on the dance floor, every inch of Caleb‘s bat mitzvah was an event to be experienced! We loved getting to collaborate with the talented team of vendors to bring this meaningful and memorable celebration to life.
Thank you to the talented team that helped bring this vision to reality, and congratulations to Caleb and his family! Keep an eye out for more photos coming soon!

Your engagement party is the first of a series of events that will lead to the biggest day of your life. Naturally, you want this party to be amazing – but what are some of the things you should keep in mind?
We have seen some of the best engagement parties around, and we have some tips for you!
There’s no specified date. You want to set this party early in the engagement, but not too early (i.e. not the very next day). Take your time to let everyone you love know you are engaged, so that you don’t take them by complete surprise when you send them an invitation.
No rules about the guest list either. The future bridal party will be invited, together with your parents, siblings, and close friends and relatives – but you shouldn’t feel obligated to invite anyone else other than that, unless you want to. DO keep in mind that people who are invited to the engagement party will have to be on the wedding guest list as well!
Location? Whatever you please. Since this can be a smaller event, it makes perfect sense to have it at home, booking a restaurant is also a nice option, or you can just plan a fun barbecue party over your parents’ house. Whatever works for you and your fiancé – same as the rehearsal dinner, the engagement party is usually one step lower on the formality level than the wedding, so if your wedding is going to be more on the formal side, you can be more casual with the engagement party.
Plan some entertainment. Doesn’t have to be a big band or DJ – but think about hosting some games or sharing fun stories about the couple. If you are equipped with good food and drinks your guests will be sure to enjoy themselves!
Work on your registry. Yes, it might seem too early in the planning process, but some guests might want to bring a gift to this party too – and a registry will help them choose something you will actually love.
Have fun! This is one of the most important moments of your life, you deserve to smile, laugh, and create unforgettable memories!
The Lighter Side is thrilled to announce that we have been featured in California Wedding Day for this breathtaking outdoor wedding. Sophisticated in black and white and set in the lushest of venues, this wedding combined a classic color scheme and modern elements. We were proud to see it published on such an esteemed publication and can’t wait to share it with you!
Here’s a little bit of what they had to say,
“David and Stephen treated their guests to a one-of-a-kind experience during their weekend wedding at the Palm Springs Art Museum. A billboard greeted guests on the highway as they entered the venue, a spectacular start to the stunning affair. COJ Events planned the day from head to toe, including the lovely outdoor ceremony, which included minimalist white chairs and modern floral design elements. Guests had a breathtaking view of the mountains as David and Stephen recited their vows and said their “I dos.”
The reception space featured a striking black and white color palette accented with yellows and metallic elements. The Lighter Side gave the room a romantic ambience with warm-hued lighting, and incredible centerpieces by Maggie Jensen Floral Design tied the entire design together. Guests enjoyed a slice of delicious cake crafted by Exquisite Desserts and joined the happy couple on the dance floor to celebrate their big day.”

Today, The Lighter Side team brings you one of our favorite engagement parties. Hosted at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, this beautiful party was a fun and exciting event.
Luxury & Celebrity event planner Kevin Lee designed a one-of-a-kind event. He turned the ballroom at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel into a cozy space by bringing in flowers by LA Premier. The Lighter Side used the latest technology on the market, combined with traditional lighting techniques, to create an awe-inspiring, romantic atmosphere to honor the recently engaged couple.
LA Best Rentals provided everything the bride and groom-to-be needed to make their night a success, while Allen G Orchestra entertained the guests. The audio and video equipment brought in by WOVA turned the entire event into an immersive experience that videographer David Medill and photographer Katie Beverley captured beautifully.
We are happy so share this event with you. Take a look at the rest of the gallery below:
What happens when the historic Rendon Hotel in downtown Los Angeles comes back to life for just a few days? Haunting visuals illuminate the rooms and stories are brought to life through film, theater, and community. We were thrilled to be a part of Art At The Rendon: STORIES, an interactive art experience in which each room was decorated and filled with performers who stepped into character to give a glimpse into the hotels complex history.
